By using innovative methodologies based on the multivariate statistical analysis of NMR spectra acquired from urine samples the impact of the nutritional inadequacies identified by CHANCE to be the most significant among people in the at risk of poverty segment of the population on the metabolic profile will be assessed.

About Søren Balling Engelsen

Søren Balling Engelsen is Professor in Plant Food Science and head of the Quality & Technology group, Department of Food Science, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen. He has a Ph.D. in Molecular Modelling from The Technical University of Denmark. His research activities involve quantitative spectroscopic techniques for the study of complex biological systems. He is an expert in the combination of multivariate chemometric approaches and spectroscopy (metabolomics) and in molecular modelling of polysaccharide structure and hydration. He is author of 151 international peer reviewed papers, two patents and several book chapters.
